FULL RETURN - ALL PUPILS WITHOUT SOCIAL DISTANCING
Peter Weir has confirmed that 'social distancing' will not be required at a class level and that schools can operate in Year Group 'bubbles', with all pupils will be able to return full-time.
We have therefore returned from the 24th August 2020, with the normal staggered start for Nursery and Year 1 pupils and the return of all Year 6 and Year 7 pupils.
The return of remaining year groups to a school, where new, COVID-19 preventative measures have been put in place, required a phased restart with pupils being phased in over the course of a week. This enabled the school to assess the effectiveness of measures put in place, any additional procedures or adjustments required, monitor access and drop off and focus on the welfare of pupils.
As anticipated, we received updated guidance from the Department of Education on the 13th August 2020. This guidance has been forwarded to parents and can be accessed by clicking on the link below:

As stated at the outset, these have been an extraordinary few months and the exceptional challenges placed on parents and families have been considerable. We are indebted to you for your on-going support and recognise the fabulous work you have done, not just during lockdown but also as an aspect of the on-going life of the school.
The health, wellbeing and educational welfare of our pupils will remain paramount in this process.
On behalf of the staff and governors of Mill Strand Integrated School & Nursery we hope that you have had the opportunity to enjoy some degree of relaxation over the Summer. We look forward to working with our school and wider community in the weeks and months ahead in the interest of our children and young people.
