Welcome to the Year 3 Restart page. Here, you will find important information about the year ahead to help you and your child prepare for their return to school. It has been a challenging and uncertain time for everyone since school closures in March, but we are feeling positive and are really looking forward to welcoming the children back! Our main focus is on their emotional well-being, ensuring that we provide a welcoming, safe and nurturing environment to support the transition back to school. We will also be facilitating lots of new and exciting learning opportunities! We look forward to working with you all in the year ahead.

Year 3 learning
In Year 3, we will continue to promote the independence that your child has already started to develop in the Foundation Stage. We will make use of varied resources, including an increased use of ICT and technology, to encourage critical thinking and develop confident, independent learners. We will also continue to learn through hands-on, play-based experiences during our Activity-Based Learning sessions. |
We will explore the curriculum through a range of exciting and engaging topics:
All About Me
In this topic, we will learn all about the things that make us unique, as well as looking at our bodies and how they work.
Fire Fire
Using The Great Fire of London as a stimulus, we will learn about all things fire-related, including the role of firefighters and fire safety, especially when using fireworks in the build-up to Halloween.
Journeys
We will start by learning about the 'journey of a letter' by following the journey of our letters to Santa. We will then continue to explore different kinds of journeys, using the adventures of 'Flat Stanley' as a stimulus.
Bright Sparks
In this topic, we will learn about Florence Nightingale and other people who could be considered 'bright sparks' for their contribution to the world, as well as completing a project on someone of our choice who we consider to be a 'bright spark.'
Under the Sea
In the Summer term, we will take full advantage of the weather and our beach classroom to learn about Sea life.
